28th November: Padstow Pasty Day a great success!
As an end to the TV filming we were asked to organise a "Celebration of the Cornish Pasty!" In conjunction with our fellow Pasty makers in the Cornish Pasty Association we organised the first-ever annual Cornish Pasty Celebration Festival, but we are hoping that it will be the first of many!
We had a children's entertainer, face- painting, speeches, a Pasty Crimping competition entered by all the major PAsty producers and won by Crantock Bakery. WE also had a Cornish Dance troupe, beers provided by Skinners Brewery, and as many free pasties and cakes that could be eaten! The highlight of the night was the finale, when Port Isaac's own Fisherman's Friends sang a few shanties to round off a very successful night!
November: Chough Bakery filmed for BBC2 TV series "Business in the Blood"
WE have just finished roughly 3 months filming with the BBC for a TV documentary called Business in the Blood!
Presented by Alex Polizzi, this documentary focusses on struggling family businesses and how they cope with how to handover the business and all of the problems associated with running a family business!
The filming has been an interesting experience to say the least! We hope they have captured some of our infectious enthusiasm and passion for our products as well as some inevitable family disagreements and arguements! Whatever happens we are sure it will make an interesting and entertaining TV programme and hope it does not put anyone off what we do! |
